Create a Marketing Plan in Under One Hour
There are a million ways to market your interior design business...and most of them feel overwhelming. Between reels, blog posts, newsletters, and networking events, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly “on” but not actually getting anywhere.
Here’s the truth: a great marketing plan doesn’t have to be complicated. Or time-consuming. In fact, I’m going to walk you through how to create a clear, focused plan in under one hour. Yes, really.
Whether you’re just starting out or trying to grow a waitlist-worthy business, having a simple strategy will help you stop reacting and start attracting. Let’s do this together, one intentional step at a time.
Step 1: Block 1 Hour
Put it on your calendar like a client meeting. Turn off notifications, grab a notebook or your laptop, and shut the door. Or, if you are like me, go to a quiet spot so you can really concentrate!
Step 2: Define Your Goals (10 min)
Ask yourself: What do I want more of?
- Projects?
- Exposure?
- Newsletter signups?
Be specific. Choose ONE or TWO goals for the next quarter.
Step 3: Choose Your Platforms (10 min)
Where does your ideal client hang out?
- Instagram?
- Pinterest?
- Email?
Again, don't try to do it all. Pick two platforms max and commit.
Step 4: Create 3 Content Categories (15 min)
Brainstorm three content “buckets” you’ll focus on. Here are some examples:
- Project reveals
- Tips that solve your ideal client's biggest challenges
- Behind-the-scenes
These buckets keep your content consistent and easier to plan.
Step 5: Plan 4 Weeks at a Glance (15 min)
Write down one post idea per week for each content bucket. Boomđź’Ą. That’s a month of content. Add them to your calendar or scheduling app. You know I put them in Asana.
Step 6: Set a Repeat Reminder (5 min)
Once a month, set a calendar reminder to revisit and tweak your plan. Keep what’s working. Let go of what’s not. Sounds simple - and it is!
Now, you don't have to avoid the overwhelm of marketing! You have plan. Hooray. And if you're ready to keep clients coming back for more, you’ll love my free guide: Keep + Retain Clients: The Essential Touchpoints.
